Apply for the Twin it! label and show your support to 3D for Europe’s culture

Under Twin it!, the Ministries of Culture of the European Union are invited to liaise with their national cultural institutions to submit at least one 3D digitised heritage asset to the common European data space for cultural heritage. The selected assets can a) be deemed cultural heritage at risk, b) be among the most physically visited monuments, buildings and sites in that country, or c) belong to a category with low levels of digitisation, directly supporting the goals of the 2021 European Commission Recommendation. The aim of the campaign is to collect and showcase emblematic and high-quality samples of Europe’s cultural assets in 3D, while supporting Member States in their 3D digitisation and preservation efforts.

Since its launch in June 2023, the campaign has ignited excitement all across the digital heritage community. Two years into the European Commission Recommendation, this is a fitting occasion for the sector to jointly reflect on the progress achieved, and on the challenges ahead and how to overcome them. To mark this occasion, we are launching a Twin it! label.

Apply for the Twin it! label now

Organisations can apply to use the Twin it! label and become active supporters of the campaign and, more broadly, of 3D digitisation of Europe’s cultural heritage. The Twin it! label will be granted to initiatives which contribute to the objectives of the campaign: using and promoting 3D digitisation to broaden access to culture, preserve irreplaceable cultural heritage and to spur innovation and creativity, fostering reuse and potential new services and applications in other sectors. Labelled initiatives should also contribute to multidisciplinary capacity-building of heritage professionals in 3D digitisation, exchange of practices and pan-European collaboration and networking, and have a clear European dimension.

Initiatives such as events, training, webinars, projects and exhibits are eligible for the Twin it! label. Eligible initiatives must take place between the launch of the campaign on 21 June 2023 and 30 June 2024, which will mark the end of the Twin it! campaign under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The Twin it! label exists in all EU languages.

What’s in for labelled initiatives?

Through the Twin it! label, you can show your support for the Twin it! campaign and the use of 3D technologies for the benefit of the cultural heritage sector. We aim to create a network of supporters and friends!

Labelled initiatives will have the possibility to network and create connections with each other, and we will reach out to you to explore opportunities for promotion and collaboration.
