Contiki has committed to using biodiesel in their owned motorcoaches in Europe where possible.
The hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) is a biofuel made from food and plant waste. It is a drop-in fuel.
Contiki, an operator specializing in tours for guests ages 18 to 35, said that the new fuel will reduce carbon emissions by up to 30-40% in Europe.
An HVO tank has been set up in Contiki’s coach yard in Stellendam, Netherlands.
Correction: Contiki is using biodiesel as a drop-in fuel where possible for existing motorcoaches.
