Best voices of Europe at “Maria Biesu Invites” festival

Artists from Moldova, Romania, Russia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Croatia, Slovenia, Ukraine and other countries will perform within the 19th International Festival “Maria Biesu Invites” in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.

In a news conference on September 7, Valeria Sheican, director general of the National Opera House, said the festival will take place during September 9-16. “We hope that the music lovers this year will be delighted as the festival will bring together some of the best voices of Europe. Moldova will show again that it has talents which it can be proud of,” she stated.

According to Valeria Sheican, on September 9 there will be presented the opera “Alexandru Lapusneanu” by Gheorghe Mustea, on September 10 – the opera “The Tsar’s Bride” by N. Rimski-Korsakov, on September 11 – the ballet “Cipollino” by Karen Hachaturian and the opera “Pagliacci” by Ruggiero Leoncavallo. Giuseppe Verdi’s “Nabucco” will be staged on September 13, L. Minkus’s “Don Quijote” on September 14, while G. Puccini’s “Turandot” on September 15. All the performances will take place at the National Opera House.

On September 14, the Organ Hall will house a charity concert. The proceeds will go to the Union of Musicians of Moldova’s Club “Maestro” that includes veterans of the national opera and ballet.

The festival will close with a gala concert at the National Palace.

Tickets cost between 50 and 300 lei. Students and elderly persons will enjoy concessions of up to 50%.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture, the Union of Musicians, and the National Opera House.
