Procureship, the Greece-based provider of one of the world’s leading and innovative e-procurement platforms for marine buyers and suppliers, has reached a significant milestone as its total number of buyers on its platform has surpassed 60, with new users continually trialing the software as they look to enhance their procurement process and make significant cost savings.

Since its inception in 2016, Procureship has harnessed the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to provide a cutting-edge procurement platform that automates the purchasing process, improves and speeds up decision-making, and cuts costs by accessing a wider selection of suppliers that are more accessible to where a vessel is at any time. Procureship’s ‘next-level’ approach to procurement has been shown to improve the processing of orders by up to 35%.

With the new influx of users, Procureship’s platform now boasts more than 60 buyers, representing more than 1,700 vessels, and more than 6,000 suppliers in all major ports and markets around the world. The company’s network of users includes ship owners, managers and charterers based in Belgium, Cyprus, Ecuador, Germany, Greece, India, Latvia, Mexico, Monaco, Panama, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

Grigoris Lamprou, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Procureship, said, “As the shipping industry continues to become more digitally mature, Procureship provides the most efficient, effective and automated way of procuring all manner of marine equipment, services and solutions by utilising automation and AI to streamline the entire procurement process, enabling buyers and sellers to focus more on their core business areas.

“Reaching yet another landmark moment in our userbase is also a testament to the hard work of our team of software engineers and customer support agents that continuously go above and beyond to provide a bespoke service to ship owners and managers around the world,” he added.

The company has recently welcomed a number of major ship owners to its platform, including Latsco Marine Management, which operates a fleet of more than 40 vessels from dry cargo ships to VLCCs; and The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd, India’s largest private sector shipping company.

Procureship is also targeting an ambitious expansion into Northern Europe as it looks to bring its industry-leading procurement platform to new markets.

In February, the company appointed Carsten Schmidt, a 40-year veteran of the procurement sector, as its Vice-President of Sales and opened a new office in Copenhagen, Denmark. As part of his role, Schmidt will lead the company’s expansion into new and existing markets, including Germany, the Netherlands, the Nordic countries, and the United Kingdom, as well as the Americas and Asia.

Procureship has also introduced several new features to its platform as part of its close collaboration with its users. These include an IHM maintenance documentation compliance feature, advanced e-invoicing processing and upcoming freight forwarding optimisation, all of which utilise advanced analytics to improve the operational efficiency of the entire procurement process.

“Digital platforms never stand still. We make sure to work closely with our users in order to understand what they need to make their operations more efficient. All of our new features are a direct result of the feedback we received from our users. They identified a need and we were quick to implement these new features to ensure Procureship remains at the cutting edge of the procurement sector,” Lamprou added.
