The Republic of Moldova and Romania aim to create joint packages in the field of medical tourism in order to become an attractive destination in this part of Europe, the president of the Romanian Medical Tourism Association Alexandru Constantin stated in a public debate hosted by IPN News Agency. According to him, the two states cooperate in the field of medical tourism and together have an enormous potential that must be exploited.
The president of the Romanian Medical Tourism Association noted that Romania and the Republic of Moldova aim to provide foreign patients with high-quality medical services that meet the international standards. In this regard, the two states have joint projects to develop medical tourism.
“Doctors from the Republic of Moldova work in Romania. There are many Romanian investors in the Republic of Moldova in the health sector. All these things can only be beneficial to develop this destination in Europe. The Republic of Moldova has the advantage of being a specific country in terms of accession to the European Union and we can exploit this advantage. Together with our counterparts from Moldova, we can develop many projects in terms of education, standardization, accreditation of medical units and other joint projects,” stated Alexandru Constantin.
He noted that in order to develop medical tourism in this part of Europe, Romania and the Republic of Moldova will create joint packages of medical services.
“Our goal is to create packages of joint offers. We chose a slogan that we will launch this year: “Two countries, one heart!”. We want to create common packages. There are medical specializations with a high degree of professionalism in Moldova, and also in Romania. The specificity of the area can be exploited in terms of offering common packages to patients from other countries,” said Alexandru Constantin.
He also said that there can be no competition between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in the field of medical tourism, if only partnerships and cooperation. Now the Republic of Moldova is taking over the experience of Romania, which already has internationally accredited clinics and benefits from patients coming through insurance companies.
“We have businesspeople who have investments in the health sector both in Moldova and in Romania. In Moldova, last year we managed to accredit the first clinic that meets the international standards, namely because Romania has already done so. We want to transfer this experience to the Republic of Moldova as well. I don’t think coming on a competition current would be beneficial. It is best to work together and offer patients from other countries a single destination and shared packages. It is very important that both Romania and the Republic of Moldova align themselves with what quality standards mean. Without high-quality medical standards, neither Romania nor the Republic of Moldova will have great chances to promote medical services because there must be the patient safety part,” said the president of the Romanian Medical Tourism Association.
The public debate entitled “Moldovan-Romanian partnership in tourism sector, joint development strategies” was the seventh edition of the project “Double integration through cooperation and information. Continuity”, which is funded by the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova.
