Dubrovnik, Zagreb, and Istria – First Virtuoso Digital Destinations in Europe

Dubrovnik, Zagreb, and Istria – First Virtuoso Digital Destinations in Europe

Dubrovnik, Zagreb, and Istria have once again been highlighted as highly attractive and sought-after destinations among high-spending American tourists, thanks to the collaboration between the Virtuoso consortium and three tourist boards that have been investing in promoting these destinations to the North American market for many years: the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, Zagreb Tourist Board, and Istria Tourist Board.

The latest Virtuoso Digital Destination (VDD) project has provided a larger platform for comprehensive presentations of these destinations, including education and interaction with the Virtuoso network of agencies and travel advisors. Thanks to these tourist boards, Zagreb, Dubrovnik, and Istria are the first European destinations to participate in the Digital Destination project, following Australia, Canada, and Los Cabos. The VDD project aims to enhance the user experience on Virtuoso.com, the leading global network specializing in experiential and luxury travel, offering a comprehensive platform dedicated to attractive destinations. By combining visually appealing design, experiential writing, attractive video content, and targeted marketing campaigns, VDD surpasses traditional methods of visibility and destination promotion, effectively contributing to the growth of interest among potential visitors.

Miroslav Drašković, Director of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, stated: “Given our previous successes in attracting American tourists, we believe that participating in the Virtuoso Digital Destination project will further enhance our tourism offerings and strengthen Dubrovnik’s position as a prestigious global destination. This collaboration will allow us to present ourselves in more detail and showcase all the charms of Dubrovnik through customized marketing campaigns and high-quality content, emphasizing the authenticity and uniqueness of our city. We can boast a range of offerings for luxury travelers, including visits to historical landmarks, top-notch gastronomic experiences, and luxurious accommodations. Direct flights between Dubrovnik and the United States not only facilitate travel but also allow more tourists to experience everything our city has to offer, from beautiful beaches and islands to world-class cultural events. The American market has been growing every year, and compared to the record year of 2019, we are seeing a 13% increase in arrivals and an 11% increase in overnight stays in 2024. This impressive statistic confirms the growing interest of American tourists in Dubrovnik, making our city an indispensable destination for luxury travel.”

Javier Guillermo, Director of Virtuoso Strategic Partnerships, stated: “Virtuoso Digital Destination has achieved success and proven very effective among high-spending travellers. VDD and the accompanying digital campaigns for Canada, Australia, and Los Cabos have sparked significant interest and engagement among targeted users, surpassing the results of other destination sites. The project’s success is measured by the increase in travel bookings to these destinations.”

To remind, Virtuoso is the leading global network for luxury travel, bringing together agencies with more than 20,000 travel advisors and 2,200 partners (hotels, villas, tour operators, DMCs, cruise companies, tourist boards, etc.), and in the travel industry, Virtuoso is synonymous with expertise, security, trust, and high-quality service.
