Testing Wendy’s new drive through AI ordering system
Dispatch dining reporter Bob Vitale uses the new Fresh AI ordering system at a Wendy’s drive through in Westerville.
Wendy’s is bringing its square hamburgers and Frostys to Ireland and Romania as part of its expansion plans in Europe.
The fast-food chain based in suburban Dublin said on Tuesday that the new deal it has signed with franchisees in the two countries will support its goal of developing hundreds of restaurants across Europe over the next decade.
“We are continuing our journey to become a brand of increased global significance, and Europe is a high-priority, strategic growth market to expand Wendy’s presence internationally,” E.J. Wunsch, Wendy’s president for its international operations, said in a statement. “To accelerate our momentum, we are focused on building relationships with franchisees who share our ambition to grow and scale Wendy’s restaurant footprint across the continent.”
The company is recruiting other franchisees across European markets as part of its expansion plans.
Wendy’s reentered the United Kingdom in 2021. The company expects to have 50 restaurants by year’s end and to eventually have 400 restaurants there.
Ireland and Romania will be new markets for Wendy’s with plans to open restaurants starting next year.
