Ever since the cronut was invented, we’ve seen plenty of wacky food hybrids. There was the crogel (croissant + bagel) in 2014 and the mufgel (muffin + bagel) in 2016. While it doesn’t have a fun mashup name, we’ve already found our favorite new hybrid food for 2017.
Meet the churro ice cream cone.
Inspired by the Central European pastries trdelník and kürtőskalács — AKA “chimney cakes” in English — San Francisco’s Garden Creamery officially calls these amazing creations “chimney cones.” But people can’t stop comparing them to our other favorite cinnamon-sugar coated doughnut — the churro.
If you want to get your hands on one, you’ll have to plan accordingly. Garden Creamery only offers these special cones from 2-4 p.m. on Saturdays at their new store on 20th Street and Lexington in the Mission.
