Croatia experiences a significant travel boost with a 20.8% surge in international tourist arrivals in May, highlighting the country’s growing appeal as a top destination.
Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia surged to 1.66 million in May, marking a significant 20.8% increase compared to the same month in 2023. This data, released by the Croatian statistical office on Friday, highlights the growing appeal of Croatia as a travel destination.
Additionally, the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists in Croatia saw a 25.6% rise, reaching 6.3 million in May. Local tourism also experienced growth, with local tourist arrivals increasing by 12.9% to 283,185 and overnight stays by local tourists rising 8.9% to 618,917.
In 2023, foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia totaled 16.855 million, a 10% increase from the previous year. Tourism remains a critical industry for Croatia, contributing one-fifth of the country’s GDP.
