A mother-of-one was left in agonising pain and rushed to urgent care after claiming a $65 pedicure led to her toe becoming infected.
Deciding that she would treat herself to a pedicure, Kris Hoff, 50, searched for her local nail salon and booked herself in for a treatment on October 11.

However, whilst admiring the colour on her toes just days later Kris noticed that her big toe on her left foot had started appearing red and painful.
When her foot was still left inflamed and sore after days of trying to treat the infection herself, Kris rushed to urgent care and demanded she saw a doctor.

After diagnosing how severe the infection was, Kris was immediately put on antibiotics and started having procedures done on her nail to remove the parts which were infected.
Now, whilst still recovering from the incident, the dog groomer has been left scared to return for another pedicure in the future.
Kris, from Onalaska, Wisconsin, said: “I noticed just days after my pedicure that my left foot appeared red and started to hurt
“I tried to treat the infection myself at home using at-home ointments and cutting pieces of my nail out, but nothing seemed to work.
“When I realised that I couldn’t sort this myself I was advised by a doctor to get to urgent care as soon as possible to help stop the pain.

“Because the pain was so bad, I begged to see a pediatrician as I needed a specialist to sort this.
“Alongside a procedure to cut out the pieces of nail that were causing the extreme pain and infection, I was also put on an antibiotic which I took twice a day for a week, alongside having to soak the toe three times a day and bandage it up.
“My foot is still infected now, over one month on, and I am skeptical about going to get another pedicure in the future in case this happens again!”
