The British Red Cross has issued a stark warning about the extreme heatwave sweeping across Europe, including Greece, Italy, the Canary Islands, Spain, Turkey and Cyprus, with temperatures soaring above 40 degrees. They have highlighted the lethal potential of such extreme heat, citing studies that reported a staggering 61,000 fatalities during Europe’s record-breaking heatwave in 2023.
