As this year’s summer sales draw to a close at the weekend, next summer will see shoppers granted a few more days to snap up a bargain, after the government approved the dates for sales in 2025.
Next year’s summer sales will run for 30 days, from Friday 27 June to Saturday 26 July, after the government council approved the dates at a meeting on Wednesday, a few days longer than this summer’s period of discount, which began on 24 June and end on Saturday.
The government also approved the dates of the next winter sales, which will begin on Thursday 2 January 2025 and end on Saturday 25 January.
The rules on sales vary widely between different countries in Europe. Luxembourg, France and Belgium are among the countries with specific time limits for sales, while Germany has abolished such rules. Most countries require retailers to prove that old prices were in place for a certain length of time before offering a discount.
