A little unsolicited advice from us to you: Gordon Ramsay is probably not the best person to ask if you need help making a grilled cheese. We know this to be true thanks to the celebrity chef’s brief appearance in Amazon’s new Super Bowl ad, in which he briefly takes over the voice of Alexa — and, since this is Gordon Ramsay we’re talking about, that situation ends just about how you might have expected it to.
The concept of the ad is that Amazon’s trusty digital assistant, Alexa, has lost her voice, which prompts the company to enlist the help of celebrities to assist in answering users’ questions. It sounds like a pretty cool idea in theory, but with celebs like Ramsay, Cardi B, and Rebel Wilson being among the famous names chosen to help out, everything pretty much takes a turn for the downright hilarious.
In Ramsay’s bit, a poor, unsuspecting Alexa user is just trying to get some help making a grilled cheese (better late than never, right?), when the chef rips into him using the colorful language we’re all used to hearing from him. Instead of actually providing the guy with a grilled cheese recipe, Ramsay berates him for being a grown man who needs a recipe for a dish that’s name is the actual recipe. To be honest, he has a pretty valid point here, but that doesn’t make his approach any less brutal.
