For all the athletes out there who would rather open a cold one after a long workout than drink the typical post-exercise high-protein, electrolyte heavy sports drink — enter Lean Machine beer. According to the New York Daily News, a Canadian company called Vampt came up with the new beverage, which is a cross between a beer and a workout recovery drink, dubbed a “recovery beer.” Lean Machine contains 7 grams of protein and only 77 calories per can, which means post-workout athletes can get what they need from the beverage as well as the added benefit of an alcohol buzz. “It’s a form of guilt-free drinking. It’s going to appeal to guys that want recovery benefits, but also want a beer with the boys, for social reasons,” explained Vampt founer Ian Toews. Lean Machine also includes nutrients such as glutamine, Vitamin C, Zinc, and sodium potassium. So far the cans will only be available in Canada, but Toews hopes to bring the beer to the US by next year.

3 things I make better than anyone else: Pancakes (they are a Sunday morning staple for the Bain family), cookie dough (I will take the raw stuff over just-out-of-the-oven cookies any day), chili
Recipe I’m on the eternal hunt for: The easiest-ever, throw-together soup that I still have time to make after work
Kitchen technique I just can’t get right: Poaching eggs. I swirl the water, just like everyone says I should, but it never works. #fail
