Eight men’s and women’s teams seal qualification from Europe

 

At the women’s EuroHockey Under-21 Championships in Terrassa, Spain there were 6 spots up for grabs for the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup 2025. Netherlands came away from the event with the gold medal in a thriller of a contest, where the Dutch were comfortably leading 3-0 in the final quarter, before a flurry of 3 goals in 77 seconds for hosts Spain saw them draw level. Netherlands added 2 goals in the final minutes to win the gold, breaking the hearts of a rousing home crowd as the hosts settled for a silver. England finished in third ahead of Germany in fourth, following a 1-0 victory in the bronze medal match. Belgium in fifth and Ireland in sixth completed the Junior World Cup qualifications from the event. 

At the women’s EuroHockey Under-21 II-A Championships in Rakovnik, Czechia there was 1 spot up for grabs for the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup 2025 for the winner of the competition, which was claimed by Wales as they defeated Czechia 3-2 in a thrilling final. 

At the women’s EuroHockey Under-21 II-B Championships in Konya, Türkiye there was 1 spot up for grabs for the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup 2025 for the winner of the competition, which was claimed by Scotland as they defeated Ukraine 1-0 in the final. 

 

The FIH Junior Hockey World Cup 2025 will be the first time the event will include 24 teams in both men’s and women’s competition. 

For the upcoming Men’s Junior World Cup to be played in India in 2025, Argentina, Canada and Chile have qualified from PanAm. They are now joined by Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, England, France, Austria and Switzerland from Europe. Hosts India have secured direct qualification. 3 teams from Africa, 3 teams from Oceania and 6 further teams from Asia will secure qualification later through the year via their respective junior continental championships. 

For the upcoming Women’s Junior World Cup 2025, Argentina, USA, Chile and Uruguay have qualified from PanAm. They are now joined by the Netherlands, Spain, England, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Wales and Scotland from Europe. The hosts of the event will get one spot at the Women’s Junior World Cup, along with 3 teams from Africa, 3 teams from Oceania and 5 further teams from Asia who will secure qualification later through the year via their respective junior continental championships.
