Since 2018, DS Smith runs in Zărnești the largest paper mill in Romania, accounting for almost half of the domestic paper demand. Raw material is fully sourced from recyclable paper – a key contributor to Romania reaching European targets in terms of recycling paper and cardboard packaging.
The group also owns a coordination centre for recycling operations in Bucharest, two recycling depots in Ștefănești and Cluj-Napoca, two packaging production units in Ghimbav and Timisoara and three service centers, in Pitesti, Timișoara and Buftea, Ilfov county, where a total of 650 employees work.
