Troy Parrott is set to be called into the Ireland squad for the upcoming Nations League games against Finland and Greece

And he added to that tally tonight on his European debut as the Eredivisie side saw off Elfsborg 3-2 at AFAS stadium.

He smashed in a 74 minute winner from the penalty spot to seal all three points for his team in their European opener.

The Dubliner signed a five-year deal with the Dutch top-flight side in July, before a memorable debut in a four-goal showing during a 9-1 league win over Heerenveen.

The 22-year-old got another three as Ibrahim Sadiq, Mexx Meerdink, Kristijan Belic and Zico Buurmeester helped themselves to goals in the rout.

They are second in the Dutch table with four wins and a draw, just two points behind league leaders PSV.

His form spells good news for his international return as Heimir Hallgrímsson is set to name his squad next week for the Nations League games against Finland and Greece.

Parrott, who has been capped 23-times by his country has was not selected for the Iceland native’s first two games in charge against England and Greece.
