Escaped from Russian actress Chulpan Khamatova admitted to problems with the extension of a residence permit in Latvia after switching to freelance status at the New Riga Theater. She told about it in an interview on the channel Rus TVNet.

“Suddenly, almost at the end of the summer, it turned out that I could not get a residence permit, that is, I might not be able to extend my residence permit, since everything I did was buying land, building a house so that I had a guarantee that I would have a residence permit — all this no longer works, all this was canceled,” the actress said.

The reason for the extension of the residence permit can only be a work contract.

“To be honest, after we were asked to leave the National Theater, I didn’t care if I stayed in Latvia, I will not stay. I thought: “If I am not needed in Latvia, I will go to another country,” Khamatova proudly remarked.

However, the problem was solved by signing a contract at the Dailes Theater. Khamatova received this proposal from the director of the theater troupe Juris Zhagars. The actress’s residence permit was then extended for another year.

As reported by EADaily, earlier Khamatova said that all Russians need a lobotomy and rehabilitation, and she herself “will definitely never return to the Sovremennik theater.” According to her, Russian colleagues who have become ex-colleagues are sure that she has secret puppeteers, some curators who pay money, and then she voices their narratives.
