Some news breaking in the United States, where LAFC have won the US Open Cup (the equivalent of the FA Cup) with an extra-time success over Sporting Kansas.

Former France, Arsenal and Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud put LAFC ahead but Sporting Kansas pegged them back and 40-year-old Kei Kamara, who had short spells at Norwich and Middlesbrough, sealed victory.

It is the first time LAFC have won the trophy and marks silverware in Hugo Lloris’ first full season at the club.

Nottingham Forest loanee Lewis O’Brien was also part of the victorious side, having joined the club for the second half of the season in July.

LAFC are currently fourth in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference, although they do have two games in hand over current leaders LA Galaxy.
