As the German logistics company has now announced, the contract was sealed last week at the IAA Transportation in Hanover. “For both companies, this cooperation arrangement marks an important milestone in their joint mission to develop innovative and sustainable logistics solutions,” says Duvenbeck.

Geely’s Farizon brand unveiled the Homtruck as an all-electric truck in 2021 and announced the start of production for 2024. The unusual name is derived from the fact that the tractor unit is intended to feel like a home for the driver – for example, by creating a special driving and living area in the interior.

The Homtruck, the series version of which was unveiled at the end of 2023, offers several drive options, even if propulsion is always purely electric. In addition to the battery-electric variant with a range of 500 kilometres, there is also an option with a methanol fuel cell and one with a methanol range extender. In these two cases, up to 1,500 kilometres should be possible.

Duvenbeck has opted for the battery. “By integrating the resources of both companies, the aim is to strengthen the use of battery-powered electric commercial vehicles in European logistics operations and create a sustainable business model,” the logistics company states in its press release. The LFP battery has an energy content of 600 kWh and works with a system voltage of 600 volts. The integrated electric axle comes from Bosch. Its peak power is 2 x 289 kW. The electric drive is combined with a four-speed automatic transmission.

In addition to an interior designed to meet the driver’s needs, the Homtruck is also characterised by its efficiency. The aerodynamics are to be improved with a slightly sloping front. Farizon states a cW value of 0.343. There are also Level 2+ driving assistants (with several cameras, lidar sensors, radar units and a connection to Geely’s satellite network), a system for real-time monitoring of the vehicle and freight, and driver amenities – from an infotainment system and an integrated kitchen to a mini bathroom and bunk.

Right from the start, Farizon had its sights set on international markets and China. However, Until the IAA Transportation, Geely’s commercial vehicle brand had not made much of an appearance in Europe – but it has now secured a major order.

As Farizon’s preferred logistics partner in Europe, Duvenbeck will support the Chinese company in its expansion in this country. “By using the Farizon Homtrucks, we’re sending a clear signal to promote our joint goal of making transport operations for goods more environmentally-friendly and of actively promoting decarbonisation,” said Duvenbeck CEO Hakan Bicil. “Our partnership is a ground-breaking step to enable us to introduce forward-looking logistics solutions that focus on both efficiency and sustainability.”
