Nuamah earned a solid match rating of 7.2

Ghanaian forward Ernest Nuamah was a standout performer for Olympique Lyon on Thursday night, playing a pivotal role in his team’s 2-0 victory over Olympiacos Piraeus in the Europa League.

The talented attacker was a constant threat on the flanks, using his pace and creativity to trouble the Greek side’s defense throughout the match.

Nuamah, who started the game and played 81 minutes, made significant contributions that earned him a solid match rating of 7.2.

His impressive form was key to Lyon’s dominance, and his involvement was crucial to their attacking play.

After a goalless first half, Lyon broke the deadlock in the 65th minute when Rayan Cherki scored, assisted by Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Later, Wilfried Zaha set up Said Benrahma, who added a second goal to seal the 2-0 victory for the French side.

Nuamah was substituted in the final stages of the game, making way for Mahamadou Diawara in the 81st minute.

The Ghanaian forward’s performance, however, had already left a lasting impact on the match.

After recovering from a recent injury, Nuamah is expected to be recalled to the Black Stars squad for the upcoming international break in October.

Ghana will face Sudan in a crucial doubleheader as they continue their campaign to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
