On the occasion of International Coffee Day, Hungarian oil company MOL released interesting statistics, Világgazdaság reports. Across its gas stations in the region, 120 cups of coffee were brewed every minute, amounting to 40 million cups between January and August. Among the top coffee consumers were travellers from the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Croatia.

Marco Rossi, head coach of the Hungarian national football team and coffee ambassador for Fresh Corner, highlighted the similarities between Italians and Hungarians when it comes to coffee culture. “Both nations are passionate about coffee, though the types of coffee consumed in Hungary are different from those popular in Italy,” said Rossi, who is known to drink up to 6-7 cups a day.

Preferences vary by country

In terms of preferences, there are noticeable differences between countries:

In Hungary, espresso is the clear favourite, followed by cappuccino and latte.
Slovakia shows a similar trend, with espresso and long black being the most popular.
In Serbia, espresso and cappuccino are also top choices, though espresso with milk takes second place.
Meanwhile, the Czechs prefer latte, americano, and cappuccino,
while Croatians favour espresso macchiato, espresso, and cappuccino.

New coffee blend at Fresh Corner

MOL’s Fresh Corner has recently expanded its offerings with a new coffee blend. In addition to the traditional medium-roast arabica-robusta mix, customers can now enjoy a smoother, single-origin 100% Brazilian arabica from the renowned coffee-growing region of Minas Gerais in Brazil.

The origin and composition of the coffee influence its flavour: the arabica-robusta blend produces rich, aromatic, and bold espresso-based drinks (such as latte, cappuccino, and long black), while the Brazilian arabica offers a sweeter, smoother, and creamier profile (ideal for flat white, espresso, and espresso macchiato).
