According to recent data compiled by World Atlas, Moscow, Russia, takes the crown as the largest city in Europe, home to a staggering 12.6 million people.

The report, which ranks the largest cities by population, provides a glimpse into the urban giants that dominate the European continent.

Moscow’s population of 12,658,000 solidifies its status as a vibrant metropolis and a hub for culture, politics, and commerce.

Following closely behind is Paris, France, with 11.2 million residents, known for its iconic landmarks and global influence.

London, United Kingdom, ranks third with 9.6 million people, continuing to grow as a financial and cultural epicenter.

Here is the full list of the 10 largest cities in Europe:

Spain is notable for having two cities in the top five, with Madrid and Barcelona boasting populations of over 5 million each.

In Russia, Saint Petersburg, the country’s cultural heart, joins Moscow in the top 10 with 5.5 million inhabitants.

Italy is also represented twice on the list, with Rome’s historic appeal drawing 4.3 million residents, while Milan, a global fashion and design capital, houses over 3.1 million people.

Rounding out the top ten are Berlin, Germany’s bustling capital with 3.5 million residents, and Athens, Greece, known as the cradle of Western civilization, with 3.15 million.
