Liverpool will be without two key players for their Champions League clash with Bologna on Wednesday evening.
Arne Slot will take charge of his first European match as Liverpool manager against the Serie A side as the Reds look to build on their previous win against AC Milan two weeks ago.
The Italian outfit currently sit 13th in Italy’s top-flight, with their last match resulting in a draw with Atalanta, who knocked Liverpool out of last year’s Europa League.
Bologna finished fifth last season with Thiago Motta as manager. However, his departure, joining Juventus and the exit of key players including Joshua Zirkzee, have depleted their squad somewhat.
However, key man Diogo Jota is set to miss the clash, with Federico Chiesa also set to miss out. Defender Andrew Robertson, who limped off against Wolves last weekend, and Darwin Nunez are set to return to the fold though in a welcome boost to the Reds boss.
Sky Sports journalist Vinnie O’Connor confirmed the news, saying: “Andy Robertson is out there training.
“There was a little bit of concern after that Wolves game that he might have picked up a knock.”
On the return of Nunez, he explained: “One bit of good news is that Darwin Nunez is back in training, he obviously missed the game against Wolves through illness.
But, as feared, he confirmed the omission of Jota: “But one player you won’t see out there at the moment is Diogo Jota because he picked up a bit of a foot injury.
“What we’re told is that he’s had a scan that it’s come back clear but he’s just not training today.

“There’s still a possibility that he could be involved against Bologna, but I think perhaps the likelihood is that Darwin Nunez will get the opportunity to start.”
The Uruguayan has had to settle for a spot on the bench in recent weeks, with Slot instead opting for Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Jota as his preferred options in the attacking third. The likes of Cody Gakpo have also had to settle for limited minutes despite the Dutchman impressing with a brace against West Ham United in the Carabao Cup win recently.
Harvey Elliott is the only other absentee; he is expected to be out for some time after suffering a fracture to his foot last month. His likely return date is thought to be after the autumn international break, at least.
