A suspect has been arrested in connection with the attack, for which police have not yet given a motive. Police described him as a 23-year-old Chinese national.
The incident occurred shortly after noon on Tuesday in the city’s Oerlikon district.
The children were being accompanied by a kindergarten worker who reportedly overwhelmed the assailant with help of another man and restrained him until police arrived.
