While many people take their holidays in the summer, some agree that autumn is the perfect season for travel, especially across Europe.
There are fewer crowds, prices are often lower, and the temperatures are more comfortable for sightseeing.
Additionally, the warm autumn colours make the landscape even more attractive. Although the days are shorter, the evenings can be truly enjoyable.
Recently, the British Telegraph released a list of top European destinations for autumn travel, and Dubrovnik, one of Croatia’s most popular cities, has made the list.
According to The Telegraph, Dubrovnik is a delight to visit in autumn, with blue skies and mellow sunshine, but without the summer crowds. You can start your day at the morning market, showcasing mandarins, pomegranates, and dried figs.
Then, take a stroll along the stunning medieval city walls before stopping for a homemade cake at Gianni, an artisanal ice cream and pastry shop. For a trip outside the city, you can enjoy wine tasting on the Pelješac peninsula, where the grape harvest is in full swing. In the city itself, the Good Food Festival (7th to 20th October 2024) offers cookery workshops, special menus, and culinary walks.
They also recommend visiting Lopud, home to the Lopud 1483 resort, which is a former Franciscan monastery restored by Baroness Francesca von Habsburg.
In addition to Dubrovnik, the list also features:
• Amsterdam
• Barcelona
• Berlin
• Bruges
• Budapest
• Copenhagen
• Edinburgh
• Florence
• Lisbon
• London
• Madrid
• Paris
• Prague
• Reykjavik
• Rome
• Seville
• Venice
• Vienna
