Head of Europe Department, Ambassador Bakr Ahmed Al Jaff, met with Finnish Ambassador in Baghdad, Ms. Anu Saarela at the Ministry’s headquarters on July 22, 2024. During the meeting they discussed ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries and the importance of holding political consultations to contribute in enhancing cooperation across all fields. The invitation to Iraq to participate in the Helsinki Policy Forum was also discussed, as it represents a great significance as a platform for exchanging views on recent developments in the Middle East.
The Head of Europe Department appreciated the humanitarian and development assistance provided by Finland to Iraq, and Finland’s contribution within NATO forces to support Iraq in its war against terrorism, pointing out the importance of encouraging Finnish companies to participate in investment projects in light of the security and political stability witnessed by Iraq.
