If you thought spa treatments and turndown services were only for adult guests, think again. Hotels across Europe are expanding their amenities for children and babies so that even the youngest members of the family can indulge in a luxury vacation. From a purée menu to mini facials, here’s how Europe’s luxury hotels are catering to kids.

A Baby Purée Menu In Portugal

The hotel chain Martinhal Family Hotels & Resorts has recently been ramping up its child-friendly amenities across its Portuguese resorts. Parents can book in for a Baby’s First Holiday package at the Martinhal Sagres on the eastern tip of the Algarve. Covering either four or seven nights, it includes a baby’s first water experience, a special gift for the baby, three hours of childcare in the hotel’s crèche per day, a baby welcome pack upon arrival including nappies and diaper cream and in-room necessities like a bottle warmer, steriliser, and changing mat.

In all four Portuguese resorts—Martinhal Lisbon Oriente, Martinhal Quinta, Martinhal Sagres and Martinhal Chiado—the restaurants have a dedicated children’s menu, including fresh pasta, burgers and pizza, as well as a purée menu using fresh fruit and vegetables for babies aged six months and up.

Kiddie Spa Treatments In Italy

A hotel spa is usually reserved for adults, but at Borgo Egnazia in Puglia, younger guests are welcome too. At Vair Spa, parents and children can enjoy dedicated experiences that involve cuddling and relaxation. Children are also catered for at Trullalleri. In this kids’ club, they can learn how to make homemade pasta during cooking lessons, have fun riding a bike in the Puglian countryside and play with the animals at a local farm.

The Luxury Family Hotels group, with properties across the UK, has introduced a ‘Little ishga’ programme offering wellness treatments to children as young as three years old. They use special products that are cruelty free, organic and suitable for young skin from Scottish brand ishga. Children can choose between mini facials and massages. At New Park Manor located in the New Forest, the newly renovated hotel & spa is also home to a mediation pod which children from 6yrs can use.

A Milk And Cookie Turndown Service In Edinburgh

At the Balmoral in Edinburgh, children and babies are treated to a special turndown service. For babies, there’s an owl teddy waiting while older children are brought milk and cookies at bedtime. Hotel rooms are also set up for families on request with motion mobiles, night lamps, baby bathtubs and changing mats.

Instead, upon arrival at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo, children—dubbed V.I.K.s (Very Important Kids)—are greeted with fresh fruit juice, homemade biscuits, chocolate lollipops, and a coloring kit (all personalised with the child’s first name) and an in-room surprise.

Fantasy Hotel Room Transformations For Kids

Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London has partnered with The Roald Dahl Story Company to transform their hotel rooms into fantasy spaces inspired by the iconic author. Aimed at children between the ages of 2 and 12 years, the rooms feature a selection of Dahl’s most famous story books, including The Twits, Matilda, and George’s Marvellous Medicine as well as soft toys, games and films.

Children can listen to an audiobook of The Witches whilst snuggled up in a bespoke Enormous Crocodile blanket and pillows or race Matilda to beat Trunchbull in Roald Dahl Monopoly. They also receive exclusively designed bedtime apparel such as dressing gowns and slippers embroidered with Roald Dahl’s beloved characters.

At the Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs in Paris, Little Voyageurs (as they’re affectionately known) find their rooms turned into miniature kids’ wonderlands with tee-pees, a little bird teddy, Le Petit Prince bathroom amenities, personalised drawing books and music.
