The regulations, initially set in 2020, have been intensified in 2024 with additional measures such as restricted late-night alcohol sales in shops and increased control over boat parties.

However, those looking to enjoy more than a few tipples under the sun can head to another part of Spain where drinks are as cheap as £1.60. This alternative destination is located just three hours away from traditional hotspots like Benidorm.

TikTok user @cheapholidayexpert recently took viewers on a tour of Tarragona, touted as the ideal spot for cheap alcohol. Some local pubs even offer deals where a glass of Cava costs just £1.60.

The TikTok connoisseur was delighted to discover a spot selling glasses of sparkling wine for a mere £2.94, offering a “big serving” that could be the answer for those seeking more booze than the rules allow. Even the more upscale venues in the city’s thriving food and culture district were pouring drinks on the cheap, with prices peaking at just £3.36 per glass.

Bargain hunters could even snag bottles of Cava for only £9.85, equating to a mere £1.65 per glass when split amongst mates. However, the TikTok traveller opted against buying a whole bottle.

Another pub was dishing out “very full” glasses of Cava for just £2.93. The ultimate budget-friendly find was a £2.10 glass of Cava in the heart of the bustling city centre.

“I’ll be honest it has not been difficult to find cheap Cava here in Costa Dorada,” she admitted. With Spain imposing limits on alcohol at all-inclusive resorts, some Brits are rethinking their holiday plans, doubting the value of such packages if they can’t drink to their heart’s content.

Cheap drinks are tricky to pin down in parts of Spain with the announcement of a limit to the number of alcoholic beverages on offer at all-inclusive resorts. Some Brits have since sworn off the island holiday packages and questioned whether it is truly an all-inclusive deal if they cannot have as much of a drink as they like.

Keep in mind that it’s important to drink responsibly. Men and women are advised not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis. If you drink less than this, it’s considered ‘low risk’, but there are no completely safe drinking levels.
