Madrid, September 3 – The Executive President of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), Gisela Sánchez, asked the Minister of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, Carlos Cuerpo, this Tuesday for Spain’s support “as a gateway and follow-up to bring other European countries closer to CABEI” and the Central American region.
During the meeting, Gisela Sánchez highlighted the importance of “being able to work on a vision for the next 20 years and obtain the strategic support that Spain can give us to strengthen the bank.” She also thanked “the 20 years that Spain has been a CABEI member” and for “sharing our new vision for the next five years, focused on accountability, transparency, efficiency and maximizing impact.”

During the meeting, Sánchez presented the new 2025-2029 strategy, recently approved by CABEI’s Board of Governors. This strategy defines a renewed vision and leadership aimed at improving the Bank’s efficiency, with a focus on optimizing costs and resources, and prioritizes investment in key sectors for member countries. CABEI is committed to generating a positive impact through initiatives that promote economic development, environmental sustainability, social inclusion and equity, with the goal of significantly improving the quality of life of people in the region.

Mission to Spain, France, and Belgium

From Monday 2 to September 13, the Executive President, Gisela Sánchez, and the CABEI Representative in Spain and Europe, Mauricio Chacón, are on a mission to Spain, France, and Belgium.

During this visit, they will hold high-level meetings with government entities, financial institutions, educational institutions, and the business sector. Additionally, they will meet with representatives of cooperation agencies with which CABEI maintains close relations.
