The snowy peaks and luxury ski resorts of the Alps have long been thought of as spectacular, but it’s time to explore lesser-known ski destinations. Andorra, one of the world’s smallest countries, is nestled in the mountains between Spain and France and a trip there revealed to me beautiful ski resorts, vibrant hospitality, sleek spas and world-class skiing.
As I arrived at the Soldeu ski resort last spring, the peaks were a hive of activity. The week prior Andorra had hosted the Ski World Cup, which saw the American Mikaela Shiffrin win the women’s slalom and the Swiss Marco Odermatt win the men’s event.
