The ministers discussed the possibilities for further development of bilateral relations, with an emphasis on trade. Another important topic of the meeting was the EU enlargement process.

“Czechia fully supports the Montenegrin government in its efforts to make progress in the accession negotiations with the EU. I believe that the European Union will hold a second intergovernmental conference with Montenegro this year, which could conclude some chapters of the accession talks,” Minister Lipavský confirmed the strong support for Montenegro’s integration into the EU and assured the Montenegrin minister of the continuation of Czech expert assistance to the Montenegrin state administration.

As far as bilateral relations are concerned, the two ministers agreed that there are currently significant opportunities for development in the areas of transport infrastructure, environmental protection, defence and tourism.

Given that Czechia and Montenegro are NATO allies, Ministers Lipavský and Ivanović also discussed the current security situation in the Western Balkans and Europe in general.
