A holidaymaker has caused a storm on TikTok after she shared a clip of her business class seat on a short-haul British Airways flight.
Content creator Christina George from London upgraded her seat for a four-hour flight to Turkey with the hope of receiving additional leg room and bigger television screen.
But she was left disappointed with her upgraded seat, writing: ‘Sorry British Airways but a tray table in between the middle seat is not business class’. She added in the caption: ‘Wish I flew Turkish airlines’.
Christina booked on to the airline’s Club Europe, which can be referred to as business class, on a short-haul flight; it offers additional perks at a higher price compared to economy, including additional space and lounge access.
The comment section erupted in a debate, and while some viewers said the service makes up for the space, others claimed that the upgrade is ‘definitely not worth it’ for a short-haul flight.

However, other viewers disagreed, with one saying: ‘Service on board is great though’.
Another added: ‘To be fair, the seats are bigger than economy slightly, you get more space, a full meal and drink and it’s a short-haul flight not advertised as business class but Club Europe’.
Which? discussed the topic earlier this year, and found that British Airways (which was once so confident of its reputation it used ‘the world’s favourite airline’ in its advertising campaigns) was among the worst airlines for both long and short haul travel.
The consumer champion surveyed travellers’ experiences of flying in the past year and analysed results from over 10,000 flights.
Once among the country’s leading airlines, BA came in the bottom five for short haul flights – below a number of low-cost carriers including easyJet, and in the bottom three for long haul.

ECONOMY BASIC
When booking a short-haul flight on British Airways, the cheapest option is a seat in economy.
Economy basic allows travellers a ‘generous’ hand baggage allowance, including a cabin and a handbag.
When booking economy basic, passengers will be allocated their seat upon check-in, according to BA’s website.
However, there is the options of adding an additional check in back and choosing your seat for an additional price.
ECONOMY PLUS
In economy plus, passengers can make use of up to 23kg on checked baggage allowance in addition to the hand baggage allowance.
Passengers can also choose their seat from 48 hours prior to the flights scheduled departure.
And when baggage has not yet been checked in on the original flight, customers are able to change their booking on the day of travel and up to one hour before its scheduled departure time.

ECONOMY FLEX
Passengers can opt for economy semi-flex, allowing them to have 23kg of checked-in luggage as well as a hand luggage allowance.

Like economy plus, travellers can also choose their seat from 48 hours prior to the flights scheduled departure.
The benefit of this option is that customers can cancel their flight for a refund with a fee.
Or, for an additional price, customers can opt for economy plus flex, allowing them to cancel their flight for a full refund, change their flight one hour before departure, and choose their seat when booking.
CLUB EUROPE
When upgrading to Club Europe, passengers can expect a string of benefits, including access to departure lounges and dedicated check in desks with priority boarding.
There is also a larger baggage allowance and more Avios or Tier Points on offer when opting for Club Europe.
When onboard the flight, British Airways promises more personal space to work or relax.
There is also high-speed Wi-Fi for Club Europe passengers, with free messaging on personal devices for Executive Club Members.
Passengers can also dine on complimentary food throughout the flight, as well as drinks.
