On top of her ongoing five-continent-spanning, 10-month-long Eras Tour, Taylor Swift (34) has been nominated for seven MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs).

This is the second year the global superstar, who released The Tortured Poets Department – her eleventh studio album – in April, has lead the EMA nominations.

Wicklow singer and songwriter Hozier and post-punk band Fontaines DC are flying the flag for Ireland, with the winners due to be announced on November 10, in Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena.

Hozier has been nominated for the Best UK and Ireland act, up against rapper Central Cee, alternative pop star Charli XCX, electronic duo Chase and Status, pop singer Dua Lipa, and Brit award-winner Raye.

He will also be going head-to head against Fontaines DC in the Best Alternative category, as well as Lana Del Rey, Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots and Yungblud. This is the first ever EMA nomination for the Dublin-based Fontaines DC.

Taylor Swift also received seven EMA nominations in 2023. However, the awards were cancelled as a result of the “volatility of world events” following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war.

In September, Swift took home seven gongs at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), becoming the most-awarded musician in VMA history.

This year’s best song nominations at the EMAs include Good Luck, Babe! by US pop star Chappell Roan, Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter, Birds Of A Feather by Billie Eilish and Texas Hold ‘Em by Beyonce.

Battling it out in the best artist category will be Swift, Eilish, Post Malone, Raye, and Carpenter.

Nominees in the best rock category include Bon Jovi, Coldplay, Green Day, Liam Gallagher and The Killers.

Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, and Nicki Minaj are among the acts who will go up against one another in the best hip-hop category.
