The President of Albania, Bamir Topi, met on Tuesday in Tirana with the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Maud de Boer Buquichio, while he assessed that sensitivity towards the Council of Europe continues to remain high.
President Topi on this occasion reflected the flow of integration processes in the country and the efforts of the Albanian state for the consolidation of the rule of law and democratic institutions, the strengthening and efficiency of the fight against corruption.
“We express our gratitude for all the attention and continuous help we have received from the Council of Europe throughout our path of integration into the EU”, said President Topi, adding that the Albanians, the state institutions are maximally engaged and will manage to prove to the European Union the fulfillment of the required standards.
The President pointed out the positive role of Albania in the region as well as the pursuit of a moderate and efficient policy in terms of increasing cooperation, peace and stability in Balka.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Maud de Boer Buquichio, praised the radical transformation and achievements of Albania, also thanks to the advice and assistance of the Council of Europe in terms of consolidating democracy, independent institutions, the rule of law, respect of human rights.
The high European representative assured President Topi that this help and support will continue until the realization and successful fulfillment of the integration aspiration of the Albanian people, to become part of the big European family. /Telegraph/
