If you want a taste of luxury while also getting paid for the privilege then a new job could be right up your street.
A newly bought private island in the Caribbean is seeking an “adventerous” couple to live and work in paradise.
The island, while not named in the listing, is located in the British Virgin Islands – a volcanic archipelago which is a British overseas territory. It comprises four main islands and more than 50 smaller ones.
The job, advertised by escapethecity.org, is asking for a professional couple to help with the running of the island but also actively promote it – and with a salary of £160,000.
However, this isn’t a job for someone with no experience. You must have worked with luxury hospitality and promotion previously.
If you want the job then you must be able to not only maintain and oversee the island but “actively promote it” according to the listing.
“Prior experience working in luxury hospitality or UHNW estates is essential, though if one half of the couple has a private household background and the other half is more media focused such applications will be considered.”
Part of this promotion is to focus on the barefoot luxury tourism aspect of the island, which its owner is keen to promote.
Barefoot luxury is an up and coming travel trend which emphasises a slower pace of life. Unlike traditional luxury, which revolves around opulent interiors and extravagence, barefoot luxury is more centered around natural beauty, eco-friendly practices and stunning natural surroundings.
People who engage in barefoot luxury like to feel close to nature and grounded in it, whilst still enjoying the luxurious aspects of their holiday.
The role will encompass overseeing landscaping, meal preparation, social media promotion and housekeeping. It’s likely hard work, but the benefits are significant.
You’ll receive a £160,000 salary with health care and a pension as well as flights, food and accommodation as well as one return flight home per year and access to the island’s amenities.
