CHISINAU. Oct 9 (Interfax) – Moldova has sent the first shipments of frozen poultry to the European Union, the country’s National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) said.
“The first shipments of fresh, frozen poultry from the Republic of Moldova have been exported to the European Union, the world’s largest market,” according to the report.
The agency recalled that Moldova received the right to export fresh poultry, chilled and frozen, to the EU in April this year.
Over the past two years, the European Commission has carried out several audit missions in Moldova, assessing the national veterinary control system at central and regional levels; the capacity to manage avian influenza outbreaks in the country; the capacity of the laboratory system; as well as the degree of implementation of EU requirements and standards by companies intending to export products to the EU market.
Moldova in March last year received the right to export processed poultry and eggs to the EU.
