Spain holiday chaos as Hurricane Leslie set to hit popular tourist region | Weather | News

Heavy rainfall is due to fall, dampening the holiday hopes of any Brits heading to Spain for some much needed winter sun.

Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather issued a dire warning to British tourists.

According to The Sun, he said: “If anyone is heading off to Spain for next few days you might want to pack the rain coat!

“Very heavy rain forecast for parts of South of Spain over next 4-5 days with Seville forecast to get up to 200mm by Wednesday but even Marbella could see 30-40mm.”

The country is still reeling from the damage inflicted by Storms Benerice and Kirk. People were pictured scampering for cover from the rain, while in Galicia in the north of Spain, trees were ripped apart by strong winds.

Mr O’Reilly added: “The A7 near Marbella in Spain, a road well known to Irish tourists, had flash flooding yesterday as video from Salvador Guzman shows and plenty more rain forecast for Spain, Portugal and South of France the next few days.

“Spain water supplies need it but tourists won’t be happy.”
