The Balearics are recording the highest temperatures in Spain today, Tuesday, October 15 with maximum temperatures looking set to break 30 degrees during this afternoon, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

The ten municipalities that will record the highest maximum temperatures in the whole country will be in the Balearics, including Binissalem, in Majorca, where it could reach 34.4C and Santa Maria, also Majorca, with a maximum of 34C, from 2pm, reports Majorca Daily Bulletin.

Temperatures are also predicted to soar on the island in the areas of Sa Pobla and Sineu (33.1C) degrees), Llucmajor and Palma – near the university – (33C) and Son Bonet (32.8C).

But it’s not all roasting weather as in Menorca the lowest temperatures will be in Cala Galdana and Ciutadella – with 20C predicted, while in Ibiza and Formentera, it will reach 17C.

Meanwhile, weather maps have revealed that some of the UK will be hotter than much of Spain in a one-day reprieve from the recent chilly temperatures.

As Brits wrap up against the frosts and flick on the central heating, one day this week is set to offer a balmy break.

Maps from WXCharts show that on Wednesday, temperatures in some parts of the UK could soar to as high as 20C. This is warmer than much of Spain where a temperature of 19C is forecast in large parts of the country.

Madrid looks like it is set to struggle to hit 15C and even on the south coast, Malaga is predicted to be between 16C and 19C.

Meanwhile in the UK, London and the surrounding area are set for 20C or slightly lower, while further north around York could see temperatures of 17C as temperatures warm up.

Weather expert Jim Dale, senior meteorologist and founder of British Weather Services said the much milder conditions are all thanks to warmer air from Africa.

He told Express.co.uk: “[The warmer weather will affect] London into East Anglia on Wednesday as warm air is drawn up from North Africa. 20C is the mark.

“Meanwhile, Portugal and Spain are having to deal with the remnants of Hurricane Leslie within a low-pressure system that is likely to bring them cool and very wet weather, with further serious flooding expected, especially in western Spain.”

The Met Office predicts it will “warm in the south” today.

Its outlook for today Tuesday, October 15 said: “A cloudy start for many, with drizzle over the hills. Some bright or sunny spells developing at times through the day.

“The increasing risk of heavy showery rain in the south and west through the evening. Warm in the south.”
