On Wednesday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán concluded his program in Brussels with a working dinner alongside leading politicians from the Patriots for Europe EP party family, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s press chief sent to the national news agency MTI.

The informal event was attended by Andrej Babiš, Jordan Bardella, Geert Wilders, and several other conservative politicians belonging to the party family. Additionally, Harald Vilimsky, leader of the recently elected Freedom Party (FPÖ) in Austria, and Matteo Salvini of the Italian Lega Party were present. Salvini recently hosted a major event in northern Italy that was addressed by the Hungarian Prime Minister.

Ahead of today’s EU summit, Mr. Orbán shared a group photo with members of the party family on his social media page, outlining the important issues he will discuss.

The Hungarian Prime Minister mentioned the following: President Zelenskyy’s recent address outlined several critical issues. He criticized the EU’s ineffective strategy in the ongoing war, urging a shift from military action to peace negotiations with Russia and emphasizing the need for immediate talks to find a resolution, as he mentioned “change from a war strategy to a peace strategy!”

He also highlighted an impending migration crisis, calling for recognition of Hungary’s role in defending EU borders and criticizing the punitive measures against Hungary for its border policies. Additionally, Zelenskyy opposed proposed economic measures like tax increases and pension cuts, advocating for policies that protect Hungarian families from bureaucratic demands.

The meeting of the Patriots for Europe was significant, as it reinforced the coalition’s commitment to addressing key challenges facing Europe while fostering unity among its members in the lead-up to the EU summit.
