Annual inflation in the eurozone fell by 0.5 percentage points to 1.7% in September 2024 compared to August, while in Estonia inflation fell by 0.2 percentage points over the same period, but the annual rate was twice as high at 3.2%, according to Eurostat data, on Thursday, the 17th of October, reports ERR.
Across the eurozone, Romania reported the highest inflation rate of 4.8% for the year to September, followed by Belgium (4.3%) and Poland (4.2%).
In Finland, the annual rate in September was 1%, while in Latvia it was 1.6%. Lithuania had one of the lowest rates at 0.4%, while Germany’s rate was practically the same as for the eurozone at 1.8%.
In September, the average for the European Union’s 27 countries, i.e. also outside the eurozone, was 2.1%.
Annual inflation reflects the change in the price level of consumer goods and services between the current month and the same month of the previous year. Monthly inflation is the change in the price level between the current month and the previous month and is often considered a more useful indicator.
Statistics Estonia reported that the monthly rate in Estonia was 0.3% between August and September 2024.
