Zadar Airport

ZAGREB, 20 Oct (Hina) – Zadar Airport has become Croatia’s first “green” airport, a closing conference for the project “Electrification and Greening of the Aircraft Acceptance and Departure System, and Aircraft Electrical Power Supply at Zadar Airport” was told on Friday.

The project was financially supported with EU funds under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021-2026.  Its aim was to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve environmental standards in air traffic.  Zadar Airport is among the first airports in Croatia to implement such technologies.

Zvonimir Savić, the prime minister’s adviser on economic affairs, said that Zadar Airport is the only airport in Europe and Croatia that is financed from the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

“This single largest project in Zadar County in terms of value was completed more than a year before the deadline projected in the current Recovery and Resilience Plan. It significantly contributes to the modernisation of the airport,” Savić said, adding that Zadar Airport had reached the volume of traffic from 2023 already in the first eight months of this year and is the European airport with the third highest increase in traffic.

As part of the conference, the participants toured the infrastructure facilities within the airport, including the newly installed aircraft power supply systems.

The total value of the project is €16.33 million and the total eligible costs are €12.83 million, including €9.28 million in grants.
