AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA):

The head of the Muslim scholars council of Bosnia and Herzegovina hailed the Slovenian government’s support for Palestine.

Speaking at a ceremony held in Ljubljana to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the office of Slovenia’s Sheikh-ul-Islam (top Muslim cleric), Husein Efendi Kavazović said, “I would like to thank the government of Slovenia for adopting clear and decisive stances in opposition to the massacre of Palestinian civilians and innocent children in the Gaza Strip and its move to recognize the state of Palestine.”

He also referred to the presence of Bosnian Muslims in Slovenia and expressed hope that they will play a role to promote friendship and bring the two nations closer together.

He noted that Bosnians and Slovenians have lived peacefully together for centuries.

The ceremony was held with the motto of “30 years together based on a 100-year heritage”.

It was attended by Slovenia’s President Nataša Pirc Musar and the country’s Sheikh-ul-Islam Nevzet Efendi Poric.

Slovenia is a country in Central Europe with an area of more than 20,000 square kilometers.

There are approximately 100,000 Muslims in the country making up about 5 percent of the total population.
