The seventh chapter of North Macedonia's negotiations with the EU: Intellectual rights - Telegraph

North Macedonia has held the first intergovernmental conference with the EU, thus officially starting the negotiations for membership in the Union.

After the first intergovernmental conference, the European Commission immediately started the screening process, which contains 35 chapters. Telegraph Macedonia will inform you about the content of each chapter that North Macedonia must go through.

Chapter seven: Respect for intellectual rights

This screening chapter between the EU and Macedonia means revision and harmonization of the laws of the countries that claim membership, for the respect of intellectual rights and other rights (copyrights above all). Protection of company data, software rights, topographical and geodetic rights, television rights, satellite rights and cable rights through two member states. In industrial rights, the EU provides collective protection of brands and designs. Bio-technical discoveries, pharmaceutical rights and the protection of crop rights in agriculture are also protected in the EU, while in Macedonia the same will be protected by laws and regulations unified with the EU and member states. Protection mechanisms for all intellectual and other rights at work will be provided by the European Commission and the European Union.

Otherwise, in addition to the EU chapters, North Macedonia has also signed a protocol with Bulgaria, which also contains some recommendations and obligations, which must be fulfilled by both countries, in order to avoid obstacles in North Macedonia’s membership in BE./Telegraph/
