Grenada is regarded as one of the Caribbean’s safest and most travel friendly islands, tucked northwest of Trinidad and Tobago, northeast of Venezuela, and southwest of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Known as the “Spice Isle” for its aromatic nutmeg and mace, the island also has bakingly got daytime temperatures that range from between 29C to 31C before cooling to a comfortable 23C to 25C in the evening.
But though Brits can pick up relatively low-cost flights to this picturesque island paradise, it’s often overlooked in favour of more hyped-up holiday hospots, The Sun reports.
Last year only around 180,000 tourists visited the island, while Aruba saw 1.26million.
But those in the know are making the best of the island’s cheap prices and gorgeous resorts before the rest catch on.
Post Office Travel Money’s ranking of the best value long-haul destinations this year found Grenada to rank top for the cheapest local bottle of beer, at just £1.50.
Travel firm Sandals recommends visiting outside of the peak season from the months of mid-December to mid-April, if you’re looking to save some money and have a quieter time. “The low season is during June – November, where you can have some more of the island to yourself and also enjoy more competitive rates,” the firm says on its website.
2024 saw reportedly the launch of new resorts like Six Senses La Sagesse on the south of the island of Grenada, which boasts 15 villas and 56 pool suites, as well as Silversands Beach House, with 28 suites and stunning cliff-top views. another Silversands resort set to open in 2026, according to The Sun.
Grenada already has Silversands Grand Ans, complete with sumptuous sunset views, lush tropical forestry and the Caribbean’s longest pool.
A brand new InterContinental hotel will also open in 2026.
Speaking to Forbes, OvationNetwork travel advisor Sylvia Lebovitch, said the island “With the opening of the new Six Senses La Sagasse and the Silversands Beach House, Grenada is back on the map.”
OvationNetwork listed Grenada as one their list of the 25 Top Places To Travel In 2025, shared with Forbes.
The nation celebrates its rich cultural heritage, with influences from African, European, and indigenous Caribbean cultures.
It’s a great place to try out some activities like sailing and windsurfing, or taking in the scenery at Grand Etang Nature Park, a protected Caribbean region that includes the Grand Etang Crater Lake, and Seven Sisters Falls.
Flights to the island from the UK range from £111 one way to round round-trip from £223, according to Expedia.
You can catch planes to the island London Heathrow, though there may be a change during the flight, which takes about 11 hours.
