A reasonable offering with a fairly low annual fee

The TAP American Express card comes with a fairly extensive slate of benefits, all of which only require a $79 annual fee. The card’s accrual schedule is as follows, and offers passengers multiple ways to earn bonus miles:

3 miles per $1 spent on all TAP Air Portugal purchases 2 miles per $1 spent on ride-share services and car rentals 2 miles per $1 spent on hotel bookings 1 mile per $1 spent on all other purchases

From this accrual schedule, it is pretty easy to tell that what the TAP card is at the end of the day is a travel card and offers passengers limited opportunities to earn miles beyond travel-related purchases. That being said, it provides a decent value for its annual fee, which is far below that of most US cobranded credit cards like the United MileagePlus Explorer card and the Delta SkyMiles American Express Gold card.

Other benefits offered by the card include preferred boarding, two extra checked bags every year and two TAP Premium Lounge access passes per year to be used exclusively at the airline’s Lisbon Airport (LIS) lounge. Cardholders can also help earn elite status with the card, earning one Status Mile for every five miles earned with the card.

The card will get you closer to Star Alliance status as well.

An exciting opportunity to continue expanding its portfolio

The success of the airline’s first US credit card has undeniably been exciting for the TAP leadership team. In a statement, Carlos Antunes, the airline’s Director for the Americas, had the following words to share:

“We’re thrilled with the success of the TAP Miles&Go American Express Card after just one year, which speaks to TAP’s commitment to our continued expansion in the U.S. and high customer satisfaction with our service.”

Antunes later went on to add that the card remains one of the best deals in the industry, with extensive benefits and a low annual fee. Furthermore, he commented that the 58,000 bonus mile offer provides passengers with excellent value and a great opportunity to book their first TAP trip with miles.
