Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo Visits Norway_Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China

From October 22 to 23, 2024, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo visited Norway and held talks with Secretary General of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Torgeir Larsen.

Wu Hongbo made positive comments on the development of China-Norway relations and said that Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre paid a successful visit to China this year. He added that his visit aims to implement the common understandings reached between the leaders of the two countries. China and Norway should take the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to make good use of the China-Norway dialogue mechanism on the green transition, promote cooperation in economy, trade, culture, green development and multilateral areas and push for new progress in bilateral relations.

Torgeir Larsen said that Norway attaches great importance to developing relations with China and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre paid a successful visit to China this year. Norway is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with China based on the principle of mutual respect and further deepen practical cooperation in various fields. Norway supports the strengthening of dialogue and cooperation between Europe and China.

The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on international and regional hotspot issues of mutual interest and concern.

During his stay in Norway, Special Representative Wu Hongbo also inspected Norway’s green environmental protection project - the carbon capture and storage project of Northern Lights JV DA.
