Only a joined-up approach can make space science environmentally justifiable, says private-public R&D group
European nations must commit to a coordinated approach to space exploration to ensure it can be carried out in a more sustainable fashion, an association of French technology companies and research agencies has said.
In a report published on 28 October, the National Association for Technological Research (ANRT) says the environmental impact of space exploration is “evidenced and indisputable” and that there is a “need to align our technologies with the requirements of a world that is deteriorating due to climate change”.
