Time is running out for China to avoid another debacle in one of its most important markets. Starting Oct. 31, Chinese electric vehicles exported to the European Union will be hit with additional tariffs ranging from 7.8% to 35.3%. Despite Beijing’s efforts to divide EU members and offer limited concessions, Brussels has rallied support from enough nations to keep the tariffs on track.
China hasn’t given up. Although an eighth round of talks recently ended without agreement, the Ministry of Commerce has invited EU technical teams to Beijing for more talks.
