Amorim has won 120 of his 156 games in charge which gives him a 77 per cent win rate.
By comparison, Ten Hag’s win rate is 56 per cent and Mikel Arteta’s is 60 per cent – this shows just how remarkable Amorim’s record is.

In appointing Amorim, the leading figure was United sporting director Dan Ashworth. His decision will have been helped along by Jason Wilcox and others – but ultimately the potential success or failure rests on Ashworth.

However, with this decision, Ineos have been absolutely perfect in opting for Amorim – instead of possibly going for a bigger-name manager like Xavi.
Amorim was at the top of Liverpool’s wishlist following Jurgen Klopp’s exit and then he was also believed to be the man Manchester City wanted for Pep Guardiola’s inevitable exit.
In Amorim, United have got the future of coaching in Europe and possibly a generational head coach too as he has the acumen to be in the ilk of Jose Mourinho who has already given his seal of approval.
Amorim has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the option for a further year, by which stage we expect Ineos and the new head coach will have us back where we belong.
